How do I avoid antibiotics for 16 month old who has excess bacteria and fungi?
Q. My 16-month old is overloaded with various bacteria—Staph, Alpha and Gamma Hemolytic Strep, etc., and registered quite high for fungi. I would like to avoid putting her on antibiotics, and was wondering if either Alli-Cinn or the Broad spectrum formulation by Pharmax would be safe for her?
A. Yes Alli-Cinn and Broad Spectrum Complex are safe for your baby, but you would have to open the capsules and disguise the taste—this could be difficult, but can be done. I suggest something like mashed vegetables for Alli-Cinn, although don’t know off hand what would taste ok with the Broad Spectrum.
We recommend you give a maximum of a quarter of a capsule of the Alli-Cinn product or a third of a capsule of the Broad Spectrum Complex product with each meal. You should also consider using high dose probiotics and High DHA Finest Pure Fish Oil. I think to be on the safe side, you should stick to FOS-free probiotics until the bad bacterial counts are down.
